The initial idea for the “Bockoo” cuckoo clock was based on this question and its iconic shape and size follow those of a book.
Lemnos Inc. has developed its own cuckoo module and has been able to design a cuckoo clock more flexibly and make it much smaller. Due to its compact size, the cuckoo clock could thus be displayed in small spaces that you had not previously considered.
If you put the clock on a bookshelf, it may encourage you to look at the shelf and take your favorite book when the cuckoo tells the time. The clock would thus encourage you to substitute the checking of a mobile device for reading a book.

Founded in 1947, TAKATA Lemnos Inc. started as a brass casting manufacturing company in Takaoka-city, Toyama Prefecture, Japan and went into full-scale business trade with Seiko Clock Co., Ltd in 1966. Lemnos works with many well-known designers such as Riki WATANABE, Kazuo KAWASAKI, nendo, Shin AZUMI, Tomoko AZUMI, Kanae TSUKAMOTO etc to design and create clocks that are timeless and accentuates the beauty of the raw material used.

 

Fumiaki Goto

Born in 1980. He worked for a senior registered architects office, MORIYOSHI NAOTAKE ATELIER, prior to migrating to Europe. In 2009, he completed a Master’s Course at Design Academy Eindhoven (the Netherlands). He gained experience at Studio Suppanen (Finland) prior to returning to Japan. Since 2010, he has been part of a designers collective “bril” at the same time as being active as a freelance designer. In 2012, he was invited to participate in the Ambiente international trade fair in Frankfurt. In 2013, he joined the Residency Project in Sweden as an international invited artist.
